Arrived in Lima August 23 and flew straight to Cuzco
City of about 100,000 at 3400m above sea level
Wandered around for the first 2 days taking it easy
Needed to acclimitise
Kids out flying the kites on the hill
An Inca ruins
Panaroma of Cuzco
Sacsayhuamán just outside Cuzco
Part of the ruins
Supposedly shaped like the head of a panther
A status of Jesus
Some French para glider
Coman's dinner
Heading towards the start of the Inca trail
The start of the trail, buses drop you just here
Heading down this valley
Michael
Jim at our first pit stop
Off again. First day was about 5 hours
Coman bring up the rear
A long trail ahead
A panaroma of the first Inca town
Heading on
One of the locals
Dinner time ... our first treat
Quite a few other hikers around here
Some more mountains
There is an idea of the full trail which takes 4 days
Scenery
Marco, one of our guides
Cathal, English dude, Jim and Diarmuid
First nights camp, around 3300m
We arrived a few minutes
before Coman, Michael and Noel
The view around 18h
The next morning and a tough day ahead
Climb up to 4200m
Everyone is feeling the pain
Not far to go, around 4000m here
The cloud was in on the pass
But heading back down for lunch
Good view down the valley
Freddy giving us a talk
Pretty good evening
...
Our camp site ahead
Weather started to get a bit dodgy
Almost there. Long day, 8hours
The next morning was not so hot
Wet gear was needed
....well sorta
A lot of downhill today
Rain
Very overcast
English
Almost jungle
Emma and Pablo
Heading up to the pass
At the pass, can't see anything
And the weather takes a turn for the worse
Another Inca village
